Using soft colors on walls and fabrics, warm lighting, and appealing decor in our new patient rooms will help to create a healing environment, which has been shown to benefit patient recovery.

Family-Centered Care
Each patient room will include a sitting area with a couch that can be used as a bed for overnight visitors. Designing spaces for families and visitors in the patient room encourages involvement, which helps caregivers understand the patient's condition and treatment.

Wired for the Internet
Providing positive distractions, such as Internet access in patient rooms, will benefit recovery as well.

Comfortable Family Lounges
A comfortable lounge area on each floor will provide inviting spaces for visitors and families.

Nearby Work Stations
Work stations will be situated throughout patient care units within a few yards of each room.

Fewer Disruptions
Supply cabinets will be accessed from inside or outside a patient's room keeping disruptions to a minimum.

High-Tech Conference and Meeting Facilities
The Hylton Education Center will be a state-of-the-art facility for healthcare education. It will have a separate entrance and will contain classrooms, audiovisual equipment, and teaching facilities. It will be a true center for continuing medical education.

Indoor & Outdoor Dining
The new cafeteria will be a full-service facility providing a wide selection of foods and snacks. Families, visitors, and staff will be able to relax and enjoy good food in pleasant surroundings either in the dining room or the tree-shaded outdoor courtyard.

"At Your Request" Room Service for Patient Meals
Have a craving for something special? Patients at the new Potomac Hospital will be able to take advantage of "room service." A special meal or snack that meets prescribed dietary guidelines is only a phone call away.
