A respiratory therapist will demonstrate proper use and maintenance of equipment including inhalers, nebulizers, spacers and peak flow meters. For adults, parents and children (six years and older).

Asthma Update for School Personnel
Asthma is one of the leading causes of school absences due to illness. School staff can play an important role in helping students manage their asthma at school. Specially trained educators will discuss asthma's physical effect on the body, what "triggers" the disease, correct use of medications, student participation in sports, and using the student health form. Offered on location by request for groups of 10 or more, Asthma Update is designed for teachers, coaches, physical education specialists, and school nurses.

Free. To arrange a presentation call (703) 670-1877 or (540) 659-1800, ext. 1877

Asthma Management for Childcare Providers
The goal of this program is to create a safe environment for children in the childcare setting. Education about asthma in general, handling an allergy emergency and improving indoor air quality for young children is the focus for this program. Information from the American Lung Association and Allergy and Asthma Foundation of America integrates information for indoor air quality management strategies for childcare providers and pre-school administrators. Hands on practice with asthma equipment included.

Free. To arrange a presentation call (703) 670-1877 or (540) 659-1800, ext. 1877.

Asthma Awareness Programs
