Ask the Nurse Program
In partnership with the Woodbridge Senior Center and Potomac Woods Senior Living Community, Potomac Hospital provides a registered nurse who will offer free monthly blood pressure checks and personal counseling. (Se habla español.)

Elder Care: Safety with Medications
This program addresses some of the safety-related needs of mature adults, including (1) organizing a system for taking your medications, (2) how to reduce the risk of side effects, (3) what to consider when using over-the-counter medications, (4) questions to ask the doctor or pharmacist, (5) tips for healthy living, and (6) tips for using medications safely. A minimum of 10 people is required.

Group Presentations
Health educators are available to present one to two-hour presentations on various topics of interest to senior clubs or groups of 10 or more. Topics may include discussions on health and safety issues such as osteoporosis, medication safety, CPR, colorectal cancer awareness, breast health, stress management, heart health, nutrition, and fall prevention programs.

Senior Immunization Program
Each fall, Potomac Hospital, in partnership with the Prince William Health District, offers free flu vaccines to persons 60 and over. Vaccines are given at places of worship and other community locations. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that everyone 65 and older get a flu shot each fall.

SeniorNavigator.org
SeniorNavigator.org, which is sponsored by Potomac Hospital and other hospitals and healthcare/aging groups across Virginia, is a free Internet guide designed to link seniors, their families and caregivers with timely and useful health and aging information. It offers in-depth information in four broad areas: Health Information, Legal and Financial Health, Housing and Health Facilities and Community Center and includes an extensive database of local services and programs. Support Groups
Meeting others who are coping with many of the same issues you are can be an important part of dealing with disease and other life-changing events. Our support groups at Potomac Hospital are part of the healing process for patients, families and friends and provide opportunities to share information and achievements, to hear guest speakers, and to discuss mutual concerns. All support groups are free and meet at Potomac Hospital or a designated community location.

Volunteer Opportunities
There are many benefits to volunteering, not the least of which is making others (and yourself!) feel good. By joining the Potomac Hospital Auxiliary you will be helping Potomac Hospital and the entire community. Its members contribute thousands of volunteer work hours to Potomac Hospital and help support services and equipment needs through fundraising efforts. The Auxiliary offers opportunities to volunteer in many different areas, such as the hospital's information desk, gift shop, and outpatient reception areas, to name a few.
