Q.
At what age did you decide to pursue a medical career and why?
A.
I had some interest while in high school, but made the decision to become a physician during my junior year of college. I had the opportunity to assist physicians with research and they prompted my interest in patient care.
Q.
What are your particular interests within your specialty?
A.
I don’t have a particular niche, although I have always had an interest in research. I took part in research on gastrointestinal malignancies that was very interesting. I’m also active in writing our practice’s research protocols.
Q.
What are your interests outside of work?
A.
I enjoy sports (football, basketball, track and field) and physical fitness in general. I recently bought a bike and have found that I really like riding on the local trails. I also try to make time for leisure reading. I enjoy crime novels and I especially enjoy the authors Walter Mosley and George Pelecanos.
Q.
What’s the best part about being a physician?
A.
The best part is dealing with people. By that I mean the patients, of course, but also my coworkers, hospital staff, all of those with whom I have the pleasure of working.
