Q.
At what age did you decide to pursue a medical career and why?
A.

Around the age of 16 or 17, I decided to study medicine because I enjoyed working with people and helping them. Both of my parents are physicians, so there was a strong family history as well.

Q.
What are your particular interests within your specialty?
A.
I enjoy preventive care and think that support of preventive care should be a goal in healthcare reform. During my residency, I had an opportunity to witness the political side of medicine, and may consider getting involved as an advocate.

Q.
What are your interests outside of work?
A.
Spending time with my family. I enjoy swimming -- I was a competitive athlete while in school. To relax I cook and experiment with new recipes. Free time has become precious, but my husband and I enjoy finding new restaurants in the area as well.

Q.
What’s the best part about being a physician?
A.

Seeing the happiness in the eyes of patients and their families when they are getting better. That is truly gratifying.
