Q.
At what age did you decide to pursue a medical career and why?
A.
At a very, very young age. In my culture, physicians are held in very high esteem and I was encouraged by my father to pursue medicine. I also had a strong interest in the sciences, so it made sense.
Q.
What are your particular interests within your specialty?
A.
For over 30 years, I have enjoyed all aspects of urology.
Q.
What are your interests outside of work?
A.
Spending my free time with my two grandkids and my family. I have a son who is also a physician and lives in Richmond, so I am able to see them often. I also have a big interest in marine biology and love scuba diving.
Q.
What’s the best part about being a physician?
A.
Seeing patients get better is the best part of being a doctor. Seeing positive results is truly gratifying. Medicine is a way of life.
