Q.
At what age did you decide to pursue a medical career and why?
A.
In college – I had an interest in taking care of people.
Q.
What are your particular interests within your specialty?
A.
Caring for patients with lymphoma, prostate cancer, head and neck cancer and cancers of the breast and colon.
Q.
What are your interests outside of work?
A.
My wife, three kids and I are all involved with music. I play the trumpet and we are very involved in music education. I also enjoy tennis and gardening.
Q.
What’s the best part about being a physician?
A.
Patient education and providing reassurance. When a patient has a better understanding of what is happening to them, they are more equipped to cope.
When the patient has a good level of understanding it creates the best chance for us to work together as a team – as partners.
