Q.
At what age did you decide to pursue a medical career and why?
A.

Early in college I always thought I wanted to be an obstetrician as I saw my mother go through several complications through her pregnancy with my younger sister. I observed how a physician can help patients tremendously when they are in need. I chose to pursue a medical career and it was the advancement in laparoscopic surgery that was the real drive for me to go into bariatric surgery. The results from these types of surgery were great.

Q.
What are your particular interests within your specialty?
A.
Robotic surgery.

Q.
What are your interests outside of work?
A.
Flying and playing guitar.

Q.
What’s the best part about being a physician?
A.

The best part about being a physician is seeing the amazing change in patients after surgery. Not only do their medical problems improve but their lifestyle changes for the better – they can run with their children, ride on a plane without feeling self conscious, etc.
