No matter what your religious affiliation or beliefs, one thing is true for many people - being in the hospital can be frightening and stressful for both the patient and his or her family. Potomac Hospital's team approach to healthcare combines the social, emotional and spiritual aspects of patient care along with the physical care we provide.
That's why Potomac Hospital has a Pastoral Care Services to provide patients, their families and hospital staff with spiritual and emotional support when it's needed. Pastoral Care Services is coordinated by Potomac's full-time chaplain and is made up of members of the Eastern Prince William Ministerial Association.
A volunteer chaplain is on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week for any patient, family member or staff member who wishes to talk to a spiritual advisor or confidant. The chaplains try to communicate a genuine understanding and concern to patients without promoting particular religious beliefs or values.
Potomac Hospital has a meditation room for families. This room provides a quiet and peaceful place to consult with a chaplain, pray or meditate, or just to spend time alone. Various resources such as Bibles and nondenominational meditation materials are also available in the meditation room.
