Spies and secret agents alike attended Espionage – a clandestine operation to benefit Potomac Hospital – on November 10, 2007, at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center in Alexandria, Virginia.

Potomac Hospital Holds Dedication Ceremony for New Building
Donnie Hylton (right) and Malcolm Cook (left), both of the Cecil and Irene Hylton Foundation, present William Moss, president of Potomac Hospital, with a check for $1 million at the Dedication Ceremony of the new Potomac Hospital on Sunday, March 5. The Cecil and Irene Hylton Foundation pledged $7.5 million to Potomac Hospital's Campaign for Your New Potomac Hospital, an $11 million capital campaign to help fund the new patient care building.
This $1 million donation was a matching gift contingent upon the campaign receiving $1 million in donations from the community. In October, the two-year, $1 Million Hylton Matching Challenge was met by the community with donations totaling $1.38 million.
Currently, the campaign has reached the $10 million mark of the $11 million goal and will continue until that goal is met.
Hylton Family Receives Potomac Hospital's Distinguished Service Award
Potomac Hospital has awarded its 2005 Distinguished Service Award to the Cecil and Irene Hylton Foundation and the Hylton Family in recognition of their support of Potomac Hospital for more than 30 years.
Potomac Hospital president Bill Moss presented the award to Donnie Hylton, who accepted the award on behalf of Cecilia, Sonny and Conrad Hylton, the children of Cecil and Irene Hylton, at the hospital's annual fundraising gala on Nov. 5 in Alexandria, Va.
Upon accepting the award, Hylton presented Moss with checks totaling $1.275 million, for The Campaign for Your New Potomac Hospital and operational enhancements in Potomac's Irene V. Hylton Emergency Care Center.
In October 2003, the Hylton Foundation announced pledges of $7.5 million to The Campaign for Your New Potomac Hospital and $5 million for operational enhancements in the Irene V. Hylton Emergency Care Center at Potomac Hospital.
Cecil and Irene Hylton were supporters of the grassroots community fundraising drive that helped open Potomac Hospital in 1972. Since that time, their children, acting through the Hylton Foundation, have provided several major gifts to Potomac Hospital as well contributions to enhance local school systems, youth centers, police and fire departments, and the environment.
Beginning in the 1940s, Cecil Hylton tapped into the market of first-time home buyers to become one of the foremost builders in the Washington area. Dale City, a planned community that has been 40 years in the making, is the realization of his life-long dream. Cecilia and Conrad are continuing and extending that dream, in the ongoing development and homebuilding activities of The Hylton Group in not only Dale City but also surrounding jurisdictions of Northern Virginia. The Hylton Group has built more than 21,000 homes, as well as apartments, shopping centers and office buildings.
"While the Hyltons may be best known for building houses, they've truly built so much more. They've been steadfast supporters of local education, youth centers, public safety, hospitals and the environment. Their commitment and generosity have helped create this great community where we live, work and raise our families," said Moss.
Minnieland Pledges $50,000 to New Potomac Hospital
Minnieland Private Day Schools, Inc. has pledged $50,000 to Potomac Hospital's new "under the sea" themed Pediatric Family Support and Play Room. All of Minnieland's Eastern Prince William schools are conducting fundraiser's throughout the year to raise money for the new 180,000 square foot patient care building opening in the first quarter 2006.
According to Chuck Leopold, who along with his wife Jackie manages the company's 80 plus locations throughout Virginia and Maryland, "We opened the first Minnieland school in 1972, the same year Potomac Hospital was established. Minnieland and Potomac Hospital have grown up together and now we have an opportunity to benefit our lives and those of our children for many years to come by supporting the new hospital."
Bill Moss, President of Potomac Hospital, added, "Minnieland has been a friend and supporter of the hospital for many years. We are very happy to have the support of the Leopolds and the families at Minnieland schools."
In addition to the new Pediatric Family Support and Play Room, the Patient Care Building will include the A.J. Ferlazzo Pediatric Unit, the Hylton Education Center, the Critical Care Unit, Progressive Care, Medical/Surgical Care, private patient rooms, a cafeteria, and support services. According to Mr. Moss, larger, private rooms will enable patients and their families to communicate freely and maintain patient and physician confidentiality. "We are placing an emphasis on the importance of family involvement in providing the most effective care, as well as state-of-the-art technology."

Potomac Community Meets Hylton Challenge!
When the Hylton Foundation announced its generous donation to Potomac in October 2003, they challenged the community to match $1 million of that donation with its own contributions to the Campaign for Your New Potomac Hospital.
"We're pleased and thrilled to announce that the hospital has received the $1 million in matching funds from the community," says William Moss, president of Potomac Hospital. "In the early 1970s, the community came together to open Potomac Hospital by raising $2 million. Meeting the Hylton's $1 million challenge has again proven the commitment by our community, physicians and employees to continue quality healthcare close to home."

Introducing the Campaign for Your New Potomac Hospital
Potomac Hospital is unique. We are the last hospital in Virginia, and maybe in the country, which can credit our very existence to a grassroots community fundraising effort. Community spirit built Potomac Hospital and our mission remains community-focused.
After years of renovations to our current facilities, we have reached a point where construction of an entirely new patient care building is a necessity. It's an exciting time in our history, and a great opportunity to involve a new generation in supporting healthcare that is close to home.
The estimated cost of our new patient care building is $75 million. This is the largest healthcare capital investment in Potomac Hospital since our beginning. To finance this important project the hospital has borrowed $51 million and plans to use a combination of reserves and proceeds from the Campaign for Your New Potomac Hospital to complete construction and to purchase new equipment.
We are most grateful for the leadership of the Cecil and Irene Hylton Foundation, which has made a generous pledge of $6.5 million to the campaign and a $1 million challenge to the community to contribute matching funds.
Meeting the Hylton Challenge of raising $1 million in matching funds is our first priority. We have accepted this challenge and the opportunity to involve the entire community. In fact, we hope to raise significantly more than the amount needed to meet the challenge and are grateful to those who have already joined the campaign team.

Local Citizens Pledge $1 Million For The Campaign For Your New Potomac Hospital!
The Campaign for Your New Potomac Hospital has raised $1 million in pledges and nearly $400,000 in cash,” according to Sean T. Connaughton, chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors and voluntary chairman of the hospital's capital fund raising campaign.
“Thanks to the commitment and leadership of local citizens and businesses, we are well on our way to raising the funds to build Your New Potomac Hospital to serve the rapidly growing healthcare needs of our community,” said Mr. Connaughton.
In addition to the contributions and pledges received to date, The Cecil and Irene Hylton Foundation pledged $7.5 million towards the new hospital with $1 million in the form of a matching challenge to the community, which was announced at the hospital's groundbreaking.
According to Marion Wall, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Potomac Hospital Foundation, “The Campaign for Your New Potomac Hospital is gaining momentum. We have had tremendous response from local business executives, government officials, individuals, and hospital staff to help raise money and contribute to this Campaign. At an estimated $75 million, this is the largest healthcare capital investment in Potomac Hospital since it was created. The generosity shown by all of our donors will enable us to provide the best care possible.”
The hospital's interior is being designed by Huelat Parimucha Healthcare Design of Alexandria, Virginia and takes into consideration the desirability of patient privacy and the increasing importance of family involvement in providing the most effective care. Private rooms will enable patients and their families to communicate freely and maintain patient and physician confidentiality. The larger rooms will include a sitting area with a couch, table, and television.
According to William Moss, president of Potomac Hospital, “This is an exciting time for the hospital and the community. We are building a replacement facility that will include the latest in patient care and technology and will enable patients to benefit from the healing environment that family-centered care and private rooms offer.”
The new four-story, 180,000 square-foot hospital will house the new Hylton Education Center, the Critical Care Unit, Progressive Care, Medical/Surgical Care, the A.J. Ferlazzo Pediatric Unit, a cafeteria, and support services. Construction on the new hospital will be completed in 2006.
Construction and equipment will be funded by a combination of proceeds from the Campaign for Your New Potomac Hospital, hospital reserves, and industrial revenue bonds. In addition, 100 percent of the proceeds from the hospital's gala on November 6 will benefit the Campaign. Designing a Logo for The Campaign for Your New Potomac Hospital
The logo for the Campaign for Your New Potomac Hospital is a reflection of the new hospital’s interior design and the connection between the existing building and the new Potomac Hospital.
The ribbon image was taken from the smooth paths that direct and lead visitors throughout the new hospital. The existing hospital is represented in the blue ribbon, which is the color of Potomac Hospital’s logo. The new building is reflected in the purple ribbon, one of the interior design colors selected for the new hospital.
There are two “hidden” image meanings within the logo: a soft heart representing the selflessness of the campaign volunteers and donors; and the ribbons, which have been built from the two “waves” of the Potomac Hospital logo.
The Potomac Hospital Foundation Endowment Fund Scholarships
This fund provides local students, who are planning a career in healthcare, with much-needed funds for higher education.
