Denis Halmi, M.D., a weight loss surgeon on Potomac Hospital’s medical staff, and Evgeni Kolesnikov, M.D., Ph.D., have co-authored a chapter in Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases 3 (2007), a publication of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
The article, entitled Preoperative placement of retrievable inferior vena cava filters in bariatric surgery, was first presented at the 23rd Annual Meeting of the American Society for Bariatric Surgeons, June 26 to July 1, 2006, in San Francisco. Dr. Halmi will also present this information at the upcoming European Bariatric Conference.
Halmi is the medical director of Potomac Hospital’s Weight Loss Surgery Center, which is an American Society for Bariatric Surgery (ASBS) Center of Excellence. The ASBS Center of Excellence program recognizes the best of the best in weight loss surgery programs. It designates Potomac Hospital as a top performing center with a demonstrated track record of maintaining the highest standards in weight loss surgery. This includes high numbers of surgeries, low complication rates, comprehensive pre- and postsurgical programs, and promoting patient safety.
This recognition includes weight loss surgeons Denis Halmi, M.D., and Daniel Tran, M.D., and their practice, Virginia Weight Loss Surgery Center. They perform more than 300 weight loss surgeries at Potomac Hospital each year.
