Cardiac Rehab Patient Celebrates 1200th Session

Len Fischer definitely doesn’t have a fear of commitment. In fact, his loyalty is evident in many parts of his life. In September, Len went to Potomac Hospital’s Cardiac Rehab Department for the 1200th time since he began the program after heart bypass surgery in 2000 at the tender age of 82. This record number of cardiac rehabilitation visits was celebrated by the staff and patients with food, laughs and few gifts.

According to Fischer, his favorite exercise is the treadmill because, “the rowing machine and I don’t get along.” Fischer attends cardiac rehabilitation sessions every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and says, “If I could I’d come on Tuesday and Thursday too.”

Now 89, Fischer is still married to his lovely wife of 66 years, Evelyn, and has been retired from the Army for 35 years after 35 years of service. He and his wife have made Lake Ridge their home since 1974.
