Potomac Hospital to Celebrate
National Cancer Survivors' Day

National Cancer Survivors ’ Day is held each year in hundreds of communities throughout the world on the first Sunday in June. It is a symbolic event to demonstrate that life after a cancer diagnosis can be a reality.

Join us at Potomac Hospital on Sunday, June 7, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., for speakers, refreshments and entertainment. William Moss, Potomac Hospital president, will open the program, followed by Dr. Susan Boylan, radiation oncologist, who will present current survivor trends in cancer care. Also, an inspirational message will be shared by Christine Luckenbaugh, a 10-year cancer survivor.

There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. To register call Potomac’s Health Connection at 703-221-2500 or online under Classes at potomachospital.com. Co-sponsored by Potomac Hospital and Potomac Radiation Oncology Center.

About Cancer Survivors Day

More than 20 years ago, Richard and Annette Bloch (of H&R Block fame) held the first Cancer Survivors Rally in Kansas City, Missouri. It was their hope to demonstrate that there is an active and productive cancer survivor population. Richard Bloch was a 26-year cancer survivor who died at age 78 of heart failure. Since that first Survivors Day the National Cancer Survivors Day has grown to include over 10 million cancer survivors and is meant to celebrate survivors, their families and friends, as well as healthcare providers.
