Potomac Physician Gives International Presentation on Weight Loss Surgery Experiences

Woodbridge, Va. Potomac Hospital medical staff member Denis Halmi, M.D., presented Prophylactic Placement of Retrievable IVC Filters in Bariatric Surgery at the Third Congress of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders - European Chapter (IFSO-EC), held April 17-19 in Capri, Italy.

The presentation described Dr. Halmi’s and Dr. Daniel Tran’s experiences with 66 high risk, weight loss patients at Potomac Hospital.

Dr. Halmi is the medical director of Potomac Hospital’s Weight Loss Surgery Center, which has been named a Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). The ASMBS Center of Excellence designation recognizes surgical programs with a demonstrated track record of excellent outcomes in bariatric surgery.

Drs. Halmi and Tran are board certified general surgeons who specialize in weight loss surgery and perform more than 300 weight loss surgery operations each year at Potomac Hospital. For more information about their practice, go to potomachospital.com or VirginiaWeightLossSurgeryCenter.com.
