Personalized Nutrition Counseling requires a doctor’s referral.

Are you confused by all the information available on foods and nutrition? Or under a doctor’s care for a medical condition that may affect your diet?

At Potomac Hospital our registered dietitians can guide you through the nutrition maze with Personalized Nutrition Counseling.

This service requires a referral from your doctor and may not be covered by insurance. Counseling can include:

  • Alzheimer’s Disease - Let us suggest ways you can help a loved one meet his or her special nutritional needs.
  • Cancer - Cancer and its treatment can lead to malnutrition and undesirable weight loss. Making changes in your diet can help ensure you get the nutrients you need.
  • Chronic Kidney Disease - Otherwise known as chronic renal failure, this disease requires balancing the amounts of protein and minerals, such as sodium, potassium and phosphorus, in your diet.
  • Diet and Disease Prevention
  • Eating Disorders
  • Food Allergies - We’ll suggest appropriate substitutions to ensure you enjoy an adequately nutritious diet.
  • Gastrointestinal Problems - Diet modifications can help in the management of certain GI problems, such as diverticulitis, celiac disease, ulcers, hiatal hernias, GERD and IBS.
  • General Nutrition and Wellness
  • Heart Disease - Cardiac disease and related symptoms, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and excess weight, can be improved by changes in diet.
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Individual Nutrition Care Plans - We’ll show you how to tailor your menu for persons with chronic illnesses or other special needs.
  • Maternal Nutrition - Learn to manage nutrition during pregnancy in order to meet your dietary requirements - and your baby’s.
  • Meal Planning  - Learn to plan nutritious menus for one, two or more hungry mouths.
  • Pediatric Nutrition - We’ll discuss good nutrition with your little one in ways they understand and get them started on proper eating habits.
  • Personalized Diet Planning – Our registered dietitians consider your likes and dislikes, food allergies, and your lifestyle to design a personalized diet that is easy to follow. Plus, they’ll show you how to make proper substitutions and give you helpful tips on what to do when willpower is low.
  • Sports Nutrition
  • Weight Management
